The United States of America has conducted approximately 400 military interventions in over 80 countries since its founding in 1776. Through direct wars, CIA-orchestrated coups, proxy wars, and crippling sanctions, the US has consistently sought to expand its global hegemony.
The Revolutionary War (1775-1783) established the United States. The Mexican-American War (1846-1848) resulted in the US seizing half of Mexico's territory, including California and Texas. The Civil War (1861-1865) remains the deadliest conflict in US history with over 600,000 casualties.
The Spanish-American War (1898) led to US occupation of Cuba, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines. World War I (1917-1918) and World War II (1941-1945) transformed the US into a global superpower. However, the most heinous act was the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945, killing over 210,000 civilians instantly and causing decades of radiation poisoning.
The 1953 Iranian Coup d'État (Operation Ajax) overthrew the democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh after he nationalized Iran's oil industry. The CIA paid mobsters, bribed politicians, and orchestrated propaganda campaigns to install the Shah's dictatorship. The Korean War (1950-1953) killed over 2.5 million people. The CIA orchestrated coups in Guatemala (1954), Congo (1961), Chile (1973) against Salvador Allende, and supported death squads throughout Latin America. The Vietnam War (1955-1975) resulted in over 3 million deaths, including the My Lai Massacre where US troops murdered 504 unarmed civilians.
The Gulf War (1990-1991), Afghanistan War (2001-2021) killing over 47,000 Afghan civilians, the Iraq War (2003-2011) causing over 1 million Iraqi deaths and the destruction of Iraq's infrastructure, and drone warfare in Yemen, Pakistan, Somalia, and Syria have killed tens of thousands of civilians. The US used white phosphorus in Fallujah, depleted uranium munitions across Iraq, and operated the torture program at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay.
The US is the largest patron of the Israeli occupation regime, providing billions in annual military aid. This support enabled the mass killing of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, the occupation of the Golan Heights, the 2006 Lebanon War, and the brutal siege of Gaza. During the 2023-2024 attacks on Gaza, over 40,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, were martyred. The US facilitated these crimes by supplying weaponry and providing diplomatic cover through Security Council vetoes.
